William (Bill) Stoddard was born on Staten Island and grew up in West Brighton, where he was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. He attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and graduated from Port Richmond High School. Following high school, Bill joined the Navy and served 4 years during the Korean War. As an electrician in the Navy on the USS Chipola, he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He married Evelyn Olsen, also from Staten Island and they have been married 69 years. Under the GI Bill, he attended Wagner College at night and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. He also earned an MBA from Brooklyn Polytech. Bill worked for AT&T in Basking Ridge and retired as Vice President of Building Design and Construction. After his retirement, he continued to work as an Engineering Consultant.

Bill was a very hard worker and his work ethic served as an example to his children. His family was always most important to him. He enjoyed summers at the shore and had been vacationing at Ocean Beach since the mid-60s. He was a Mets and Giants fan at heart but as a ticket holder, he also enjoyed going to Jets games with his family for many years. As a devoted family man, Bill enjoyed watching and coaching his children’s sports teams and later did the same for his grandchildren. He was a man of many skills and talents and kept busy with home projects and repairs. There was never a repair that he would not take on and could not complete.

Bill was predeceased by his sisters Edna and husband Robert Brennick, Florence and husband Julian Calamari. He is survived by his devoted wife Evelyn, loving children William and wife Pat, Norma and husband Thomas Brzozowski and Jacquelyn and husband John Young. Bill was also a proud grandfather of Christina and husband John, Sandra and husband Patrick, Brian and wife Melanie, Billy and wife Alyssa, John and fiancé Jenna and Jeffrey, as well as greatgrandchildren Taylor, Brady and Hailey. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephew Marianne Brennick and Rosemary Palladino, Joanne Brennick, Robert and Caroline Brennick.
